About the EPC Register
The EPC Register is the official database of Energy Performance Certificates in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, managed by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
All EPCs are valid for 10 years from the date of issue. You can download a copy of any certificate free of charge. You'll need your own EPC for selling or letting a property.
When do I need an EPC?
When selling, letting, or building a property. You must have one in place before marketing.
How long is an EPC valid?
10 years from the assessment date. You can reuse it within that period.
What if my EPC has expired?
You'll need a new assessment. Move-Nest can arrange one within 48 hours.
Can I dispute my EPC rating?
Yes — contact the assessor's accreditation body. Or book a fresh assessment for a second opinion.
